Mentorship

Life after matric

Life after matric is quite challenging and stressful, well to think about atleast. From making a decision on what to study, where to study, how you are going to fund those studies. These decisions are ultimately what makes or breaks a young learners dreams. Fortunately for you The Innovation Club is here to assist with easing that burden.

Tips to ease the burden:

Research
   - Ideally you should start doing the research on the career path you want to undertake before you get to grade 10. This will help guide your choice in terms of which stream to take.

Attend Career Exhibition
   - Career exhibitions are a great source of information, from different career paths to bursaries that are available. The great thing about these exhibitions is the fact that you get to interact with people from various institutions and companies that are able to give you first hand advice.

Consult
   - as Cliche as this may sound, the teachers are a source of information and they are well positioned to guide you in terms of which career to follow and what you need to do in order to gain entrance into that field. They are responsible for developing you academically therefore they assess you on a regular basis and are well aware of your strengths and weaknesses. Please seek advice from them.

Start early
   - It is never too early to start getting good marks. Your grade 11 studies are arguably the most important and you need to do extremely well to ensure that you gain University entrance as Universities initially use your grade 11 results to assess if they should grant you acceptance.

Apply
   - Apply as early as possible to various institutions to increase your chances of being accepted. Some Universities like The University of Johannesburg have a R0 application fee if you apply online so this helps ease the stress of sourcing the funds to pay for the application fee.
